Responsible Sourcing
We buy from growers who periodically replant koa trees and offer koa that is salvaged versus actively cutting down live trees. The ranches also practice scarification. After pulling trees from one area of the forest, they later tractor rake the area to turn over the soil to expose koa seeds to the sun, allowing the seeds to grow into seedlings that thrive in the much needed sunlight. The area is then left untouched and protected from predators for generations, so the seedlings may continue sprouting and growing into lush Koa groves.
